The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is the New Zealand Crown entity coordinating national emergency response, civil-defence operations and multi-agency coordination across central and local government. Obvious has supported NEMA across strategic, brand and communications work — bringing creative discipline to a high-trust environment with significant Treaty obligations and a complex stakeholder set.

The engagement

Our role with NEMA has been to bring strategic clarity, brand and communications craft to the agency’s public-facing and partner-facing work. The detail of the engagement is appropriately confidential — what matters is the shape of the trust placed in us: a creative consultancy operating alongside a Crown entity on the kinds of strategic and identity questions that need to be defensible at the highest scrutiny levels.

Why this engagement matters

High-trust Crown entities with Treaty obligations and multi-agency stakeholders are the brief Obvious is built for. Working alongside an agency whose remit touches every New Zealander, every region, and every level of government is a particular discipline — and one we are proud to do well.
